A message from the President
I started practicing taxidermy in 1988 at the age of sixteen. I have been a commercial taxidermist on and off for over 30 years. In the past, I was afraid to take my work to the competition level fearing I was not good enough. Ten years ago, I attended a show as a spectator. From that point on I was addicted to the world of competing. Since then, I have competed at dozens of state shows. I fully understand, the work, time away from family, and financial obligation it takes to get a piece to a show. I have also had the pleasure to train with various world champions and have been able to “pick the brains” of leaders in this Industry. Through competing, and talking to others, I have learned what it takes to make a good show.
It was an honor to be placed on the Board as Vice President last year, and now as President, I am making it my personal mission to make the Eastern Regional Taxidermy Convention/Competition the best that it can be. We have had an outstanding Board in years past, which helped this association survive these crazy times in America. We now have a number of fresh faces on the Board, and everyone is committed to do what it takes to take this show to the top. We want the Maryland Taxidermy Association to be a place where taxidermists can come together to socialize and promote the art of taxidermy and wildlife conservation. I truly look forward to what the future holds for this Association.
